Capability Audit & Strategy Development

  • Capability auditing is an important starting point for many of our projects. Often involving getting input on team performance from both the team and their working partners, it identifies priority development areas and opportunities for more effective working.  The Capability Strategy outlines  resulting team development initiatives, with related performance measures.

Ways of working

  • Sometimes we find that the biggest barriers to team performance are not what the team are doing but how and when they are doing it. Looking at ways of working and helping to put in place more timely, joined up, and consistent approaches (building on what is already done well), can make a huge difference. We also have some brilliant and very practical planning tools which can help teams generate a better quality of output.

Marketing training & coaching

  • We help identify the areas of marketing skill which the team needs to develop in order to achieve it’s objectives. Whilst the impact of social media and e commerce is a driving a major up skilling requirement for many marketers right now, building a team’s core marketing skills in brand and communication planning often have the biggest impact. We develop tailored workshops which are interactive, energetic and business output driven.

Marketing Planning Facilitation

  • This can be a very cost effective way of optimising the outputs of the marketing planning process. We help put in place and facilitate the best planning approach for the outputs required, including useful planning tools, templates and live action workshops. This enables the team to focus on the quality of the plans rather than the process itself. We can also help to challenge, sense check and refine the plans.

Workshop design and facilitation

  • Whatever the marketing planning objective, we can design and run interactive and energetic workshops which focus on generating the desired outputs. We are well experienced in facilitating cross functional and client/agency teams and engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

The Football League

Vaughan and Co helped The Football League focus our marketing strategy through a well organised facilitated review of our current position and identification of our key challenges and objectives moving forwards.  One year on we are now delivering against these objectives and finding we are having a renewed impact on the organisations revenues, attendances and our corporate reputation.  Sports bodies are in a difficult, multiple stakeholder position which makes it is easy to have resource spread thinly against a disparate plan.  Vaughan and Co bought external marketing rigour to The Football League and we shall continue to deliver on their findings in the future.

Led by Helen Vaughan, we are a small co-operative of highly experienced marketers who, via our own career development, have come to share a knowhow and passion for developing high performing marketing teams.

Each one of the team has over 15 years of proven marketing or media management experience working predominantly on blue chip FMCG and B2B brands before transferring our experience to capability development. Our wide breadth of experience covers brand management, brand communication development, insight, innovation & renovation, media buying and agency management, and all aspects of marketing capability development.

The combination of our marketing and training expertise enables us to share practical tools to bring out the best from teams, whilst challenging and refining outputs when required.
